The first step to being prepared is to become informed about the connection between climate change and health. Here are some good places to start learning more:

Prepare
Emergencies will happen.  The more prepared you are, the better your family will fare in an emergency.  These steps will help you start preparing for extreme weather, climate change or natural disasters:

  • Develop a emergency communication plan for your family.
  • Attend emergency preparedness training seminars.
  • Prepare a To-Go Kit of necessary items for you and your family.
  • Decide what changes you can make to lessen your impact on climate change.

Act
You can take steps now make a difference in your own life and for the health of your community:

  • Reduce your carbon footprint. 
  • Follow instructions and advice during an emergency or disaster.
  • Sign up to be an Emergency Preparedness Volunteer.
  • Practice your family’s communication plan.
