Infectious Disease Reporting:
Cleveland Department of Public Health
Under Ohio law, healthcare providers, hospitals, and laboratories are required to report cases of certain infectious diseases to the Cleveland Department of Public Health (CDPH) within a specific timeframe. Reporting these illnesses helps us track the spread of disease, prevent outbreaks, and keep Cleveland healthy.
The Office of Epidemiology and Population Health (OEPH) at CDPH is responsible for investigating all reportable disease cases to determine the best way to prevent spread. Some diseases require only data collection for statistical purposes, while others require a more thorough investigation involving patient interviews and contact tracing.
